If you’re looking for a free yet excellent online first-person shooter with a unique premise not found in other games in the genre, then Wolf Team is your best bet. Apart from having FPS gameplay and elements comparable to more mainstream games like Counter Strike and Crossfire, you can also transform into a werewolf, giving it an interesting and all-new dimension.
If you’ve played an FPS game before, then there would be little need for a tutorial, since the way you aim, fire, and move around the various maps will be familiar. Furthermore, in terms of aiming and shooting, we have to say that Wolf Team is extremely easy and it downplays the realism aspect. But hey, there’s no point in looking for realism in a game where players can transform into wolves. That aside, there’s barely any recoil when firing the guns, which means you can unload a full clip of assault rifle fire accurately on an opponent despite him being away from you.
Once you’ve created an account and logged in, you will already have a different assortment of default weapons. These are weaker compared to the ones you will get to rent or purchase in the game, but are enough to help you gain a foothold have a decent kill:death ratio. For starters, you will have a default assault rifle, handgun, a sniper rifle, and a submachine gun.
As you progress into the game, you will have access to stronger and newer weapons. You will earn Wolf Coins or Gold Coins after every battle, and you can use these to purchase new goodies. Bear in mind though, it can be quite an undertaking to save up, so if you have deep pockets, simply use real money to buy the game’s virtual currency and in turn, buy what you need. Additionally, you can add upgrades into your weapons (except the default ones) to make it more lethal or accurate.
The game’s biggest draw is its battles. Joining is simple: just look for lobbies in the game’s user interface (which is simple enough) and get into the action. The hosts can choose which game mode they want, and even put in certain limitations such as transformations not being allowed, or melee only. These are extremely fun and varied: in some game modes, wolves can have access to different mutations, like making them stronger or even invisible.
The way you play and strategize depends on the game mode. If you’re playing in team deathmatch, then all you have to do is fire away without reckless abandon. Conquest and Destruction Mode require you to do a bit of strategizing with your team, since they require a great deal of teamwork.
The differences between humans and wolves are simple. Apart from appearances, wolves are stronger, faster, more durable and mobile than their human counterparts. They can even use walls to slingshot their way into unsuspecting players. The downside is they can’t use guns and weapons - instead, they have claws to the dirty work. All they have to do is swipe once or twice, to kill a human.
Overall, Wolf Team is highly recommended if you’re in need of a new and pretty unique FPS game to play. The graphics are decent, the gameplay is explosive, and the gameplay is varied. You have numerous weapons to choose from and purchase, depending on your play style. Though one might think it pales in comparison to more popular games, it’s good enough to make anyone who thinks this way to change their minds.
