Hazard Ops markets itself as a game that will revolutionize the third person shooter genre for good and truer words have never been spoken. It's a magnificent game that has everything such as fast-paced PvP action, engaging cooperative PvE fights, tons of weapon variety, breathtaking visuals and much more that will have pretty much every single player coming back for seconds.
Given the scale of the game and how many things there are in it, things can get rather overwhelming for new players and figuring things out at the start can be a tad bit difficult. Thankfully the game has a fairly solid tutorial sequence that does an excellent job of explaining all the basics of the game. The tutorial spans itself across the first few minutes of the game and the great thing about it is that you can skip it if you feel confident in your ability which is an option that not a lot of games offer.
In terms of gameplay, Hazard Ops definitely has it all. A vast variety of maps, incredible game modes, both PvP and PvE styled modes and much more. The shooting mechanics of the game are really solid, it's definitely a skill based shooter since you won't really have anything that will aid you while taking aim which is something that all players will appreciate. The only thing you can rely on is your own skill which makes lining up incredible shots from far away quite satisfying.
There are many PvP modes but the one most heavily emphasized on is the Team Deathmatch mode which is the renowned classic that pretty much everyone is familiar with and the objective is to of course take out the enemy team before they can take you out. The game's highlights doesn't have "sensational PvE action" as claimed though.
You'll get to take on things like waves of small zombies or if you want bigger game then you can choose to go up against massive man-eating spiders as well. The PvE modes are great fun as they require a lot of cooperation between players and it's great fun especially when you have a friends to tag along with you on the adventure.
Along with the solid gameplay come some breathtaking visuals. Hazard Ops is a sight to behold. Each and every single entity within the game has a remarkable amount of detail and seems to have been fine-tuned to look perfect. The special effects are absolutely stunning, watching tons of explosions go off during large scale Team Deathmatches is just an awesome experience which is made even better with the sound of endless gunfire complementing it. The game's maps look pretty brilliant as well, each map has a distinct look and feel of its own and there are over 50 of these which is a pretty massive number even by today's standards.
As for micro-transactions, the game has various different kinds of packs that players can purchase for real world money. Packs are basically sets of weapons and equipment that are great if you're looking to get an edge over the competition.
Hazard Ops is a near perfect third person shooter that definitely raises the bar for future games to come in the genre.
